Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is concentrated blood plasma. It contains about 3-5 times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. In addition, PRP contains Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), and other bioactive proteins which help in skin rejuvenation.

Using own blood platelets stimulates new cells growth, helps in improving the skin tone, skin complexion and regains the lost facial volume. Depending on the size of the targeted area, blood is drawn from the patient’s arm. Usually, 10-30 ml blood is drawn for PRP therapy. The drawn blood is centrifuged for eight minutes. The rich platelets are separated from the centrifuged blood, injected into the targeted skin using microneedles.
Platelets are body cells which help the tissue in healing, producing new cells. Soon after injecting PRP into the targeted skin areas, it helps in collagen growth, tissue regeneration, and makes the skin tight and smooth. As PRP soften wrinkles, smooth and young results are apparent.

It is ideal to undergo 3 PRP treatments within four to six months intervals. An improvement in the skin elasticity will be noticed first. Collagen reproduction takes about 3 months after the treatment. The PRP skin treatment result will long for two years. In order to keep the skin intact, persons will visit the dermatologist once a year. The result varies from person to person. Since the own blood is taken for the treatment, factors like stress, alcohol, smoking, illness can affect the result.
Most people will experience a mild swelling, redness in the treated area as common side effects that indicate the activation of platelets. Bruising can also occur and within a few days, it would disappear.
